Carver Companies Welcomes Aprojects North American HQ to Port of Coeymans, Expanding Global Logistics Operations in Capital Region

COEYMANS, N.Y. — Carver Companies is announcing the presence of Aprojects at the Port of Coeymans, noting the multinational logistics and supply chain company’s establishment of its North American headquarters at the port, where it has been operating for approximately 18 months.

The move marks a major boost to the Capital Region’s footprint in global commerce, while reinforcing Coeymans’ growing role as a hub for complex, international cargo.

Aprojects has more than 20 offices in 17 countries, including four in the United States. Its first North American office — previously in Albany — now sits directly on the Hudson River waterfront at the Port of Coeymans, with over 100,000 square feet of warehousing at the adjacent Coeymans Industrial Park.

Both facilities are owned and operated by Carver Companies, creating a fully integrated logistics environment that combines maritime access, heavy-lift capabilities, warehousing, and industrial space in a single location.

The move elevates Coeymans from a regional offshoot to the center of Aprojects’ North American strategy, aligning the company’s on-the-ground operations with the infrastructure required to support its specialty: managing oversized and highly complex cargo for some of the world’s largest manufacturers.

“This is the next step in a partnership that’s been building since 2014,” said Carver Laraway, founder and chairman of Carver Companies. “Aprojects brings global customers and supply chain expertise. We bring the port, the vessels, the equipment, and the people. Together, we’re creating capabilities here in Coeymans that didn’t previously exist in this region.”

With global headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium, Aprojects provides end-to-end supply-chain management, from origin through final delivery, coordinating freight across the world. Its core business includes freight forwarding for cargo so large or complex that it requires specialized planning, permitting, escorts, and heavy-lift handling.

Power generation remains one of Aprojects’ largest markets, with emerging growth in sectors such as biotech and semiconductors, both of which are prevalent in the Capital Region. Establishing its North American headquarters at a working port allows the company to execute these projects at a higher level by situating its team at the point where cargo is handled, stored, and shipped.

“Relocating to the Port of Coeymans is both highly strategic and practical,” said Dan Foote, CEO of Aprojects Americas. “This is the type of port our business revolves around. Water access, barges, tugs, heavy equipment — that’s how complex cargo moves. Partnering with Carver Companies, which has a well-established track record, allows us to offer customers a turnkey solution that combines global reach with real execution on the ground.”

The expansion has also driven investment by Carver Companies, which has added personnel and equipment to support increased port activity, including stevedoring and maritime services tied to Aprojects’ customer base. Additionally, the parties are in discussions regarding additional warehouse space at the Industrial Park, should they be able to negotiate agreeable terms for this long-term expansion.

"Welcoming Aprojects to the Port of Coeymans is a milestone for the Capital Region,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “This move highlights Albany County as a hub for global trade and innovation, and underscores the tremendous potential of partnerships between local business and global companies.”

The presence of Aprojects at the Port of Coeymans advances Carver Companies’ broader vision to expand the port’s breakbulk and specialized cargo capabilities. While the port has long been recognized for marquee projects such as the recently delivered $1.7 billion Portal North Bridge, current operations position the Port of Coeymans to handle even more complex cargo, bringing new business, visibility, and jobs to the region.

Beyond large manufacturers, the Port of Coeymans also serves small- to mid-sized upstate businesses that can benefit from direct waterfront access. Through its operations at the port, Aprojects provides a viable alternative for small-freight warehousing and logistics.

Aprojects and Carver Companies are also supporting projects outside of New York, including work in Charleston, South Carolina, with the potential for additional activity across the East Coast.
