Carver Companies welcomed students and their parents from the Ravena Innovation Station to the Port of Coeymans for a behind-the-scenes tour and an up-close look at the launch of the Mackenzie Rose tugboat into the Hudson River.
The visit provided students with a real-world look at the engineering, technology, and programming concepts they explore through Innovation Station’s STEM programs, including FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST LEGO League.
A highlight of the visit was seeing Carver’s 820 MT Marine Travelift in action as it carefully lowered the Mackenzie Rose into the river. Students also had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the Travelift’s wireless remote controls and experience operating the slings themselves.
Carver Companies is proud to support opportunities that connect classroom learning with real-world applications and give the next generation of STEM professionals a firsthand look at careers in engineering, technology, and the maritime industry.
